Wolves Women begin their 2024/25 Adobe Women’s FA Cup campaign away to Asfordby Amateurs on Sunday afternoon.
The Old Gold enjoyed a historic run to the fifth round last season, defeating Stourbridge, Peterborough United, Hull City and Reading before eventually bowing out despite a valiant effort against WSL outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.
Dan McNamara’s side made it to the fifth round for the first time in the club’s modern history, scoring 22 goals throughout the run and also defeating Championship opposition in Reading.
Wolves come into Sunday’s first round tie with Asfordby on the back of last weekend’s 6-0 success over Halifax which saw the team rise to the top of the Northern Premier Division.
The Old Gold have won eight of their 10 league games so far this season and have found the back of the net 35 times.
Sunday’s opponents Asfordby play in the East Midlands Regional League (Central), the sixth tier of the women’s game, where they are currently placed in third and are managed by Leah Radford.
On their way to the first round, Asfordby defeated Radcliffe Olympic and Thrapston Town, before getting past Walsall on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time.
