Abi Loydon was pleased with the team’s performance following their triumph over Asfordby, taking Wolves Women into the second round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
The Old Gold put seven past Asfordby Amateurs on Sunday, with Loydon getting the seventh goal of the game, putting her on the scoresheet alongside Tammi George (3), Racheal Quigley (2) and Beth Merrick.
On the team’s performance
“I feel that overall, we deserved to go through to the next round, and we created some great chances.
“But, I do feel that in the final third, again the quality to go ahead and actually score took a few attempts but overall, it was a brilliant result for us.”
On finding the back of the net
“Finally! I think I had about 13 chances to score.
“I feel like towards the end of the game, I decided to put a bit of pressure on myself to actually find the quality but overall, I’m happy to get onto the scoresheet.”
On her hopes for the FA Cup run
“We just want to do what we did last year, get as far as possible.
“Obviously, the prize money has increased over time, so I feel like as far as possible really.”
On scoring so many goals as a team
“It’s great. In training we do a lot of practice around the final third and I do feel that it is really paying off now.
“It’s not just one person scoring either, there’s multiple goal scorers on the scoresheet today as well.”
On the confidence going into Liverpool Feds
“This is a massive confidence boost for us, as Macca said next week determines whether we finish top of the league going into Christmas.
“So, we will prep well this week and reflect on any improvements to then hopefully have another three points next Sunday.”
