McNamara up for Manager of the Month

Dan McNamara has been nominated for October’s FA Women’s National League Manager of the Month for the Premier Division.

The Wolves Women boss steered his side to three league wins out of three throughout the month, scoring 16 and conceding none, as the Old Gold rose to the summit of the Northern Premier Division table.

The 100% record started with a hard-earned home victory against high-flyers Rugby Borough, as a Charlotte Greengrass double in the second half was enough to gain all three points at the SEAH Stadium.

Then came the first Black Country derby of the season as McNamara took his troops to the Hawthorns, looking to extend the winning run in derby matches to 11.

And what followed on that afternoon of Sunday 13th October was nothing short of a derby day demolition.

Four goals in each half meant eight goals and a ruthless display in the own back yard of their local rivals.

Wolves were 8-0 winners, with Greengrass contributing to 50% of the goals as her four rightly earned the forward the plaudits and the match ball.

Tammi George (2), Beth Merrick and Jade Cross were also on the scoresheet at the Hawthorns, making it a derby day to remember for all connected with the Old Gold.

October came to a close as Wolves welcomed Halifax to the SEAH Stadium and with leaders Nottingham Forest not in action due to international call-ups, McNamara’s group knew that all three points would lift them above the Reds and to the top of the table.

Wolves did just that, and made light work of their Yorkshire opponents, scoring six of the best through Merrick, Hughes, Greengrass, Racheal Quigley (2) and Ania Denham.

The result left Wolves at the summit after a stellar October in the league, leaving no doubts as to McNamara’s nomination for the Manager of the Month award.
