Quigley | 'It was a battle and a tough challenge'

Racheal Quigley said she was relieved after her dramatic late winner helped lift Wolves Women to a 2-1 victory away to Liverpool Feds.

It was Quigley who scored a 95th minute header that won the game for Wolves after a cagey affair against Liverpool Feds. The win keeps the Old Gold at the summit of the table and makes it eight unbeaten in the league, and Quigley spoke on her winning goal as well as the team’s hard work to earn the winner.

On the game

“It was a battle, definitely a tough challenge, those guys came out and worked hard and it was a lot of grafting.

“But to get those three points after a game like that is a nice relief.

“There were a few things not going our way, a few decision making things, and at the end of the day it comes down to numbers and how much we’re working and I think we really pushed until the last few minutes and it showed. We really deserved it in the end.”

On taking momentum from the game

“It’s huge for us. I don’t think any of us at the start of the season expected to be at the top of the table at this point. It feels very nice and like the hard work is coming together, but the job isn’t done yet.”

On the dramatic winner

“It was unreal, the ball Amber put up, it honestly would have been harder to miss. She was grafting all game and then for her to put that in, it was like my comfort zone, so I had a feeling it was going to go in.

“I was ecstatic and then when all the girls come around you it feels amazing.”

On her impact from the bench

“I feel that in training we all work really hard together, so whoever is on the pitch is trying the best they can, and I feel like I can combine and work well with this group.

“Whether I start or I’m on the bench I’m there to do my job and today we were there to do that.”

On Coventry Sphinx next up

“I think we’ll be buzzing, but we’ll also be honest and say It wasn’t our best game so there’s a lot to work on.

“But I think there’s a bit of relief and now we have a break in the league, then onto the next game.”
