Wolves Women begin their 2024/25 Birmingham Challenge Cup campaign away to Coventry Sphinx in the second round on Sunday afternoon.
Dan McNamara’s side are on a break from league action for the next two weeks, returning to play in the competition they have reached the final in for the past three seasons.
After winning back-to-back Challenge Cups in 2021/22 and 2022/23, the Old Gold were aiming for a hat-trick in May, but were beaten on penalties by Rugby Borough after a thrilling 4-4 draw in the final.
Coventry compete in the Premier Division of the FA West Midlands Regional Women’s league, but are yet to win a game this season having picked up three draws and lost three times in their opening six matches.
Both teams received a bye to the second round of the Challenge Cup, with the Old Gold coming into the game in impressive form.
Dan McNamara’s side have lost just once in their last 11 games in all competitions and sit top of the Northern Premier Division table.
Racheal Quigley ensured the team remained at the summit following her dramatic 95th minute winner at Liverpool Feds last time out.
