Wolves Women showcased an emphatic performance against Coventry Sphinx on Sunday in the second round of the Birmingham Challenge Cup.
Dan McNamara has hailed his team for a professional performance following the 16-0 victory, but says they must be prepared for the next challenge.
On securing the win
“They are always tough, these fixtures. We have to keep the wheels turning in regard to the first-team and making sure they are ready for the games that are to come.
“I’m here to develop the game but also, I want to pay respect, we made plenty of changes at half-time and gave youngsters an opportunity.
“We saw Maddie (Calder) come on the pitch Amelia (Hiscox), Ania (Denham) so overall I'm pleased.”
On the development of the players and the momentum going forward
“AJ (Abbi Jenner) has been talking the past few weeks about when she will get her first senior goal and she’s popped up and scored at the back post today so that is fantastic for her.
“Goals are goals, I've always said be proud that you are scoring for Wolves. The goals were spread around, and I think that is pleasing to see.
“Maddie’s opened her account with her first senior goal, that is something she will remember.
“If you are ready and you are striving in the 16s then you will get an opportunity at first-team level.”
On squad selection
“Katie Johnson has been ill this week, but she’ll be ready to go again. Josie Smith has now been cleared through her injury, and I think she’s disappointed to not be in the matchday squad today.
“It’s hard because there’s players that are coming back from injury and there are other players that step up and have taken us on this great run.
“They have got to be patient, do the right things and work hard to get back into the squad.
“When they do get back in, they’ve got to take their chances. We have to be ready.”
