Wolves Women breezed past Derby County on Sunday after a 4-0 victory at the SEAH Stadium, with Amber Hughes, Charlotte Greengrass, Anna Morphet and Jade Cross all getting on the scoresheet.
Dan McNamara was relieved that his side ‘got the job done’ in the first half and understands the importance of being prepared for the upcoming challenges, with his team now back at the top of the league table.
On the performance
“I can’t really explain the second half; we were poor by our standards.
“I thought there were some good performances, but as a collective we just didn’t click.
“The first half we were tremendous, we had some good moments where we got the ball high up the pitch and scored some good goals.
“We’ve done really well to get the game on today, we have nine games left so it’s important that we get games on and get points in the bag.”
On facing Rugby Borough next week
“We’ll go there full of confidence, and we’ll prepare well. We are probably the underdogs to be honest with what we’re up against.
“We go there with no pressure on us and we’ll see what we can produce.
“Their players will want to avenge what happened here so it’s important that we’re absolutely at it.
“They want to win this league themselves so they’ll want to put a dent in our chances and it’s important we go there with the right mentality and ready to fight.”
On hosting Manchester United in the coming weeks
“It’s amazing for us, seven years on from hosting their under-18s team.
“We now host arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world at home to play in the last sixteen of the cup – it's a dream come true.
“We don’t want it to just be an occasion, we want it to be a game.
“It’ll be an unbelievable moment for everyone associated with the club.”
