Cross | ‘We got the three points and that’s all that matters’

Jade Cross displayed her pride at scoring her 175th goal for Wolves on Sunday as the forward netted the fourth and final goal of a dominant win over Derby County.

Having helped Wolves secure all three points in the 4-0 win at home to the Rams, Cross spoke on her milestone achievement as well as how the players are preparing for a visit to Rugby Borough this weekend.

On the team’s performance against Derby

“I thought we played well, and we stuck to the game plan.

“I think we were better in the first half and obviously played really well whereas the second half wasn’t probably at the same standard as the first half, but we got the three points and that is all that matters.”

On her 175th goal

“Well, I wouldn’t say that it was the greatest goal, but a goal is a goal. It feels great to get on the scoresheet

“I didn’t actually know about it being my 175th goal until I got told just now but I mean it’s a great achievement and I never thought I would get to that number.

“I’m really proud and hopefully I can continue to add to it throughout the rest of the season.”

On keeping a clean sheet

“Obviously, we want to score goals but that clean sheet is so important.

“So, to keep the clean sheet was always going to be our aim as we obviously conceded two last weekend and we weren’t happy with that, so it was great to get that today.”

On playing Rugby away next week

“We will prepare like we do every game, Rugby are a good side.

“So, we will have to prepare well and hopefully do what we do best and get a good game plan going to go and secure the three points next week.”
