Wolves Women were held to a 1-1 on Sunday against a well-drilled Rugby Borough side.
Dan McNamara has given credit to his side and has highlighted their efforts, ahead of an Adobe Women’s FA Fixture against the current holders, Manchester United, next weekend.
On the performance
“I think the most disappointing thing for us is the way we started the game. We should’ve had the game done in the first 10 minutes, we created three incredible chances.
“I thought they had the better of the first half and in the second half we caused them real problems.
“If you offered me four points off Rugby Borough this season, I would’ve snatched your hand off, it’s a hard place to come and they have great players.
“Let’s keep enjoying it, keep the wheels rolling and see how we go.”
On building momentum ahead of Manchester United clash
“We’ve tried to park next weekend for a while, and I think the girls have done that fantastically well.
“It’s a credit to what the girls are doing, on another day those chances drop in for us, I think a fair result in the end was a draw.
“The girls have got to enjoy it; they’ve got to embrace these next six days. Make sure they soak it up and don’t let it pass them by.”
On progressing as a team
“Every point matters, we have to manager expectations because we are getting everything out of this group.
“We are watching Forest and Burnley sign big players from the Championship and ultimately one of them should win it, but credit to these girls.
“We have got to keep working, keep improving, making the younger ones better by using the experience of the other players to try and help them.
“The fans have got to stick with us, it’s not easy.
“We are still not where we want to be, but we have got to keep fighting with what we get given and hopefully one day we can get to the promised land.”
