Amber Hughes is hoping to find the back of the net once again at Molineux this weekend as Wolves Women look to get back to winning ways when they face a Black Country derby against West Bromwich Albion.
The striker – who marked her 100th appearance for the club recently – has 17 goals in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division this season, as well as 23 in all competitions, which put her over the 90 mark for her Old Gold career, and after already experiencing what it feels like to score at Molineux in previous outings at the stadium, she is determined to add another on Sunday afternoon in the derby.
On bouncing back after Hull disappointment
“It has been tough after that result. It wasn't the result that we wanted, and what we probably know ourselves we are capable of. It’s one of the games that we feel we should be winning, but as a group, we stick together – as we always have.
“I think that's important and that's what we have done these last couple of weeks, and it's been good to carry on and have a friendly last Sunday and keep the ball rolling. But togetherness is massive, and it always has been.
“It’s something that Macca has always prided himself on and the whole group have within them. So that's what's got us through and what will get through to the end of the season.”

On hosting West Brom at Molineux
“I think the words ‘Black Country derby’ itself means everything to everyone at this club, and it's always a big occasion for us.
“Being at Molineux, everyone always looks forward to those occasions, but there's still a job in hand. We still want to go there and get the three points, as well as enjoying the day at the stadium with family and friends around us.
“I've personally really enjoyed them. I do like a goal at Molineux and I'll be looking to do the same on Sunday. But it's nice to be at a big stadium and have your friends and family around you and be able to represent the club at that stadium.
“We are all really looking forward to it and it will be a big occasion, but ultimately we want to play the game and win the game, get the three points.”
On aiming to replicate the result at The Hawthorns
“Definitely. Obviously, if we get the same result, that's fantastic, but then we did play them after that [in the Challenge Cup], and the result wasn't quite the same.
“We won't be going to it complacent or anything like that, we will go into it knowing that it is going to be tough, knowing that they'll want to get one over us at Molineux. But ultimately, we will be looking to go there and beat them.
“We want to win against any team, but it always adds that bit of rivalry when it's derby. But we do also know that they are a good team and they battle. One of the things about them is that they're always together and they work hard, so that will be something that we are aware of and know that we will need to do. There will be a lot of one vs one battles, and whoever wants it more will come out on top.”

On challenge of playing at a Premier League stadium
“We've been fortunate to be able to do that this season. More clubs are playing at their main stadiums week in, week out now, which is great. If you look at the results this season, we've done well at the big stadiums, so it's something that we do well.
“But Telford is also a big pitch, so I think that works in our favour, as opposed to clubs that aren't so used to that. We will be looking at our previous results and how we've done at other stadiums to take that into Sunday.”
On another season topping the scoring charts
“I'm happy with it. Personally, I wanted to add more than I did last season, so I'm happy, but I’m always looking to do more. I still want to finish the season off well and add a few to those. It's been great getting Char [Greengrass] coming and adding to that partnership and somebody else to get the goals, in which she has in abundance.
“It’s been really positive for me and I'm just looking to finish it off well as well because who knows what’s going to happen. It's not completely out there that we don't win it, but we obviously know it's going to be difficult, but it's a case of looking after ourselves, and everything else will happen, and we'll see where we go from there.”
