Wolves 2 (Greengrass 32, 62) Burnley 1 (Richards 41)
Wolves Women earned three points against a persistent Burnley side on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides enjoyed various spells of possession in the early exchanges, however Dan McNamara’s side looked more dangerous going forward.
Amber Hughes showed her individual brilliance in an attempt to open the scoring; after picking up the ball on the edge of Wolves’ defensive third, she advanced into the attacking area before narrowly missing the target.
Charlotte Greengrass was denied by a strong reflex save from Kirstie Levell on the thirty-minute mark.
The number 12 did not have to wait long to find the back of the net, however, as two minutes later Beth Merrick robbed the ball in a dangerous area and squared an inviting pass across goal for Greengrass to break the deadlock.
However, the visitors were level moments before the break when Jade Richards headed the ball down past Bec Thomas.
Thomas was called into the action shortly after conceding, this time she proved her brilliance and denied Danielle Maxwell in a one-on-one clash.

Ten minutes after the restart, Aimee Kelly lunged forward in an attempt to give the visitors the lead - the effort was wide of the target, but alarm bells were ringing for Wolves.
Wolves regained their advantage when Greengrass’ curled effort found the bottom corner, to mark her 18th goal of the season so far.
McNamara’s side were relentless and searched for a third, as Abbi Jenner’s lofted ball was perfectly weighted for Greengrass to loft the ball over Levell, but Richards denied the attempt.
Momentum was in full favour of the hosts, and it was only due to Burnley’s persistent defending that Wolves failed to find a third goal.
Ultimately, Greengrass’ brace earned Wolves three points on home turf, ahead of their trip to Halifax in a fortnight.
