Pereira | 'Together, we can be stronger and stronger'

Vitor Pereira was delighted his Wolves side were able to create history at Molineux on Sunday afternoon after taking down Tottenham Hotspur to secure a fourth Premier League win in succession.

The Old Gold had not strung four victories together in the Premier League before this weekend and had not achieved the run in the top flight since 1972, but goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matheus Cunha as well as a Djed Spence own goal saw Wolves run out 4-2 winners.

But although Pereira admitted he would never have predicted that scoreline ahead of the match, he was confident his players would achieve history due to the togetherness and unity within his squad.

On four Premier League wins on the bounce

“I can say that I'm very happy. Very happy with the team, the personality, the commitment, the organisation and the confidence to play.

“We faced a strong team, but I think, in my opinion, we deserve the result.”

On instilling confidence in his players

“I believe that as manager, it’s a little bit like you share your personality with the players. You transmit your personality to the players.

“I'm a very ambitious guy. I'm very existent with myself. I'm never happy with my work and I want more and more. This is the image that I asked the players to send to the supporters and to everyone. We have a team that we can reach other targets.”

On an unpredictable game at Molineux

“No, but each game is a game. We cannot predict what will happen. But I felt my team in the first half was difficult because they came to press and the space every time was on the back of defensive line, and we took a bit of time to understand where we can and where we cannot manage with this space.

“But we start to find the space in the second half and I think we played better with the ball, and we created chances to score.”

On the quality within his squad

“Joao [Gomes] played a fantastic game, but I cannot say that one player was not good today.  But Joao is a fantastic player and each day is getting better and better.

“But Andre is the same. Munetsi, running, running, running, and working for the team, Larsen was fantastic, Cunha he scored a goal because of his quality and the defensive line was fantastic for me.

“My thanks to Agba, because today he played sick with difficulties, but he helped us a lot. And this is a team with spirit, with personality, with character and with quality.”

On Cunha scoring on his return

“We are together. We are committed. Of course, I understand the supporters, but we are a family and the supporters, they are our family.

“Cunha is our family, he is a member of our family, and together, we can be stronger and stronger.”
